Too Old To Skate

ride to work on wooden toy? gotta pay your dues man etc...

I was thinking the other day how I haven't slammed or even done any dancing-around-your-board bail or unintentional splits type manoeuvres on my skate-commute recently. I was also thinking of writing about how recently the corners of most pavements (i.e. at junctions) have been transitioned to road level around Bristol, making my skate that bit more smooth (I don't ollie up kerbs when i'm wearing a backpack, as I usually end up wearing it on the back of my head) .

Anyway to get to the point, today I was approaching one of said wheelchair/skateboard friendly pavement corners at a fair speed and i'm not sure what happened, one minute I was riding, the next minute I was rolling on the floor, trying to avoid putting any weight on my backpack which contained a laptop. Of course the obligatory crowd of school kids were in attendance to witness the spectacle plus a few concerned mums, bless em.

No major damage, and my board didn't maim anyone/ run off and throw itself under a bus. In fact I would say I was back on my board and riding with a silly/pained/adrenalin fueled grin on my face within about five seconds.. :-)
